Even though I work in the healthcare field I wasn't following my own advice. I'd spent years trying to lose the same 15 pounds and I didn't want to be in the 'overweight' category anymore.
Past programs left me feeling grumpy and deprived, so I always gave up after just a few days. I hated the thought of going hungry or giving up my favorite foods. I finally found MyBodyTutor by searching online for a one-on-one weight loss coach. It was just what I had in mind but it still took me a few weeks to be ready to commit.
I read all of Adam's blogs to prepare myself and once I decided to go for it, I was all in. Part of my determination came from wanting to spend wisely, helping to solidify my resolve to do what I set out to do. The program came with a few surprises. I loved that my tutor really listened to me on our initial phone call and understood my concerns. She was my biggest cheerleader with lots of positive feedback rather than criticizing every little thing. I was amazed that by following her advice to never let myself get to the point of feeling “starving”, I was much less likely to reach for unhealthy options.
I loved learning to listen to my internal cues of hunger and satiety. This helped me cut down on some of my bad habits like having second helpings when it turned out that I felt better when I ate smaller portions. I also found that by avoiding processed carbohydrates, I was rarely hungry and didn't crave chocolate anymore, compared to my overly restrictive diets of the past. It was easy for me to post photos of my food so that my tutor could give me feedback on my nutrient balance and portion sizes. I was also happy that I didn't have to give up my favorite cocktails but learned to compromise on indulgences, and still lose weight.
I have learned to choose healthy foods because I want to eat them, because I feel better when I do. I have learned that it's healthy to indulge at times and then get right back to my good choices. Daily reporting, feedback, and lots of cheerleading from my coach has really helped gel new lifelong habits, and lose 17 pounds. I'm so grateful I found MyBodyTutor and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in improving their health in a sustainable way.

It's fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don't. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can't achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
