Before MyBodyTutor, I felt like there was a dissonance between who I was in most aspects of my life and who I was with food. I've worked incredibly hard to excel in my education and career. I felt like the knowledgeable, controlled person I was striving to be was overshadowed by the impulsive, bloated gourmand I became at the table.
I had deeply ingrained habits that were difficult for me to break. But, I wanted to know that my weight, health, or level of athleticism weren't preventing me from living my best life. If the expression "seize the day" is any motto to live by, I wanted to seize every day with nothing holding me back.
Now, I look and feel like a completely different person. I am a completely different person. Six months ago, I didn't move more than from my bed, to my office chair, to my couch every day. Most of my meals came from a takeout container. I was tired and constantly achy. I was miserable.
I get some sort of movement in every day, and I eat when I'm hungry and I eat things that I'm proud of. I only eat those things until I'm full, and then I put my plate away even if it looks like there's more left to get through. I'm energetic and excited. I'm happy. If I'd been told six months ago what I'd be sharing today, I wouldn't have believed it. I'm changed more than words can express.
This change would not have been possible without MyBodyTutor and my coach, James. From our very first session, he began challenging me to rethink my relationship with not only food but with myself. From thought experiments, and journaling, to scientific literature, he's turned mindfulness into a habit. He's encouraged me through high points and helped me through low points. He's helped me reach a place where I no longer struggle over my relationship with food.
I've learned so much about mindfulness and getting to the source of my feelings with hunger and activity while working with MyBodyTutor. The fact that I'm at this point in my fitness journey is both humbling and still slightly unbelievable to me.

They're my relationship with my spouse and the shared activities that we now do together. They're the ability to go out for dinner without bloat or guilt afterwards. The confidence of not shopping in the big section of the department store. Honestly, they're just about being happier and healthier, of which I am much more of both today.
It's honestly surreal to think that I could be in a position to inspire others to start their journey, but I'm here to help however I can.

It's fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don't. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can't achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
