I had tried Weight Watchers multiple times with limited success. The counting and points got to be a lot and didn’t allow me to make my own choices. I particularly remember a small piece of cake being 12 points—nearly half my daily allotment—and I felt penalized instead of being allowed to make a choice. My husband and I also did a high-protein, doctor-monitored program, but the food was packaged. While we lost weight, this type of diet was not sustainable for the long term.

The hardest part for me was consistency. I used to say I lost the same two pounds every week. Monday through Friday, I would be great, and then gain it all back on the weekends.

This keeps you from getting off track for more than a day. When I was feeling “diet fatigue,” I had my coach Laurie to talk to about it, and she kept me going. Just having that person, rather than an online recording of weight like you get with WW online, made all the difference to me.
