I have always been pretty active, but with everything that has happened to me in the past few years -- including relocating my entire family from Asia back to the US, plus the pandemic -- it all led to me "letting go" a bit.
That small bit led me to becoming more lazy, less active, and always snacking. Then, as a father of 2 young kids, I just didn't have time to work out or be diligent with my diet.
I had tried it all: Keto, Intermittent Fasting, everything. I was just wreck-less! No one really held me accountable as to what to eat, when to eat, or how much to eat. I would eat whatever, whenever, and at all hours of the day.
My family loves me, but they knew that since I worked a lot and didn't have time to eat during the day, they would just let me eat anytime I wanted. I appreciate that, but I now know that was BAD!
Then, when doing a bike ride from Pasadena to Palm Springs, my good friend (and a former MyBodyTutor client) Noah D. Kagan, noticed I was struggling and figured that it was because of the weight I gained. He suggested that I give MyBodyTutor a shot, as he had great results. After perusing the site and reading all the success stories, I figured I had nothing to lose but the weight itself, so I took the first step and the plunge to sign up.
The biggest doubt I had was if I had the diligence and could dedicate myself to the time commitment needed to succeed. I am the sole income earner in the family, heading up a new startup, and a father of 2 little munchkins, so the doubt was real!
But after talking with Noah a bit more, learning more about the coaches, and reading more about MyBodyTutor's process, I felt comfortable that the tools would be there for baby steps to weight loss success.
My hope was that I could do this, get back on the path to being "healthy" again, and that it was not going to be painful. I was able to do it. I am a LOT more healthy, but it was not without some pain. As the old cliche says, No Pain, No Gain!
In the end, I realized that if I wanted the change, I needed to do the hard work. There isn't going to be any firewood unless I go out to chop some wood.
The biggest differentiator with MyBodyTutor was accountability and feedback. In the past, my wife or family members "held" me accountable, but they were not very strict, so I would eat whatever, however much, whenever, all the time. Those bad habits eventually snowballed into the slow and gradual gaining of weight. That was just the beginning of the slippery slope.
Another thing that helped was knowing that my coach, Paul, was on the receiving end of the reports and daily feedback. He was there to give the tough love that we needed. I would suspect that because of that, we would eat less, eat more healthy, and be more conscious about our eating habits, aka curbing or stop snacking altogether.
MyBodyTutor was the EXACT thing that I needed for success -- and in only 5 months! I move better, feel better, and am more active with the kids (and wife!) I think overall, I have more energy to be present with everyone. At my peak, I was almost 200 pounds, and now I am 168 pounds, so a total of 32 pounds!

Lastly, another thing that I gave up on was drinking. I haven't had a drink in over 4 months now!
I'm in a good place. I wholeheartedly love where I am now and have established the RIGHT habits to continue on this path. I've had a lot of success. I'm more aware of my food and how much I am consuming. I ask, "Do I NEED that 2nd or 3rd bowl of food, or am I just getting it because I am used to getting another serving?" Again, being more self-aware. I have established a more regular and consistent exercise routine that includes running and cycling. Next, I will be adding weights and maybe bulking up a bit.
For anyone thinking about doing it or considering, just do it already! Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
In the beginning, nothing is easy, but you've gotta WANT to lose weight! You've gotta WANT to do it for someone. If not for you, do it for someone you love and want to be here when you are done. Think of it this way; it has been your current (bad) habits that got you to where you're at, do you want to continue on this same path? I hope the answer is no. Go sign up already! It's fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don't. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can't achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
