I'm almost 65 years old and still working as a hairdresser. I love my job. But my hip, knees, and feet were giving me a lot of pain, and I knew losing weight would reduce wear and tear.
Once I hit perimenopause, the pounds just continued to accumulate. I tried Weight Watchers and GoLo with some success but just couldn't stay focused. The more I gained, the less energy I had to even try to eat differently. It became a vicious cycle. Tired, eat, tired, eat.

Communicating through text and email was a little nebulous, but it worked. Paying actually helped too. I told myself if I am paying for a coach, I was going to do this. I hate to throw money away.
As for what I changed with my diet, I gave up some of my fats. I went from whole-fat dairy to reduced or no fat. I found that if I limited my portions of foods with creamy sauces, the extra fat (I cut half the fat here, too) didn't seem to stall my weight loss.
I never felt deprived. I give myself a small piece of Lily's Stevia sweetened, dark chocolate almost every afternoon. It gives me a gentle afternoon boost. Other than that, I haven't missed sweets at all. If I am hungry, I eat carrots and hummus, so I am never hungry enough to lose control.

It's fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don't. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can't achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
