Heather

Hello! My name is Heather, and I have been a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and Nutrition Coach since 1996.

Growing up my parents were great fitness role models. As a child I would watch my mother teach group fitness classes and go for power walks daily. My father was a marathon runner and was also a black belt in karate. I have NEVER been naturally thin. I didn't have the best eating habits as a teenager but I was able to maintain my weight in high school by running and playing tennis and having youth on my side.

When I went to college I learned that you can't out-exercise a bad diet and my weight hit an all time high. Even though I knew how to eat properly and exercised all the time, I had trouble keeping my weight down. The stress of college got the best of me and I turned to food for comfort. Ironically, I got my BS degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition. Knowing what to do and actually doing it, are two completely different things! After graduation, I changed my eating habits and I was able to lose the weight.

I met and married my husband two years after college and got pregnant with our first daughter 4 years later. I used the pregnancy as an excuse to eat everything I felt like since I was going to gain weight anyway. I ended up gaining more than I wanted to and I struggled to lose the weight after. I wished I had taken better care of myself. I told myself I would change my habits during my next pregnancy. I got pregnant with our second daughter 4 years later and this time I kept exercising, ate healthfully, and gained about 1⁄2 the weight. I felt amazing! It was also much easier to lose the weight.

Not only have I learned how to lose the weight but I've learned how to maintain it. I've maintained my weight for the last 14 years without ever feeling deprived and I look forward to helping you do the same!

My husband and I have been married for 22 years. Our daughters are now teenagers and we have one heading off to college this fall. I started my own outdoor bootcamp fitness business back in 2009 and finally just opened my own studio 3 years ago which has always been a dream of mine.

Why I chose MBT:

I first heard about MBT through one of my trainers who is also a coach for MBT! When she explained to me what this program was all about and how it's not a “diet”, but a coaching platform to help change eating habits and lifestyles, I was intrigued. I also loved the daily accountability feature of this program.

I decided that I wanted to become an MBT coach myself because I have been watching clients come and go over the years and I get frustrated when I see them workout so hard and not see results with exercise alone. I want to help people change their eating habits and conquer their emotional eating for good! There is nothing more satisfying to me as a trainer than seeing someone reach their goals, but you need more than just exercise. I know this all too well from my college years.

I love that I will be there for you to find your "new normal" and develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Can't wait to meet you and get started on this journey together!
