How did you find out about us?
I originally found out about MyBodyTutor through a friend, who is another success story of yours.
What have you tried in the past?
Before MBT, I had tried logging (totally guessing) calories in MyFitnessPal. I was all over the place consistency-wise. I would do it for a couple weeks, give up, and then go months/years at a time without doing it again. When my weight started to tick up, I would get back into the habit and repeat the cycle.
I had also dabbled with the Slow Carb Diet, but never really stuck with it for more than a few days. I had also tried intermittent fasting-- basically skipping breakfast. I stuck with that for a few months but didn't really see any change.
I would also make all kinds of mini-resolutions and rules: “I’m going to start splitting meals at restaurants", "I'm cutting out beer except on Saturdays", "I'm going to drink 2 glasses of water with my meal and only have 1 helping" -- but these types of mini-resolutions only lasted a couple days (if that) and then I would lose steam. I hadn’t built up the right habits or mindsets to make these work long-term.
Any hesitations or doubts you had before joining?
My main hesitation prior to joining was wondering how much of a lifestyle change the program would entail. How strict would my coach be? How intense was the food logging?
What were your hopes before joining?
I wanted to understand how to look good for the rest of my life. And I wanted to very clearly understand what my specific weaknesses were — what were the default habits and mental frameworks I didn’t even know I had that were holding me back and sabotaging my success. I wanted to create the habits and behavior that would become automatic.
What made you sign up MBT?
I had been loosely following MBT for the last several months on Twitter and via the email newsletter. My wife and I were on a trip to Ireland, and when I was packing, I realized there were only 2 pairs of pants I could actually pack because the rest did not fit. The exact moment I knew I had to do something was when I was traveling on a bus, and I felt THOSE (my bigger pants) pinching against me. I decided it was time for a change and went for it.
How is MBT different from the billion and one other companies out there?
The daily accountability / support aspect is unmatched. Plus, it’s the opposite of a fad diet. It’s a lifestyle and meant to be life-long.
Let’s talk about results. How is your life now?
I’ve lost 23 pounds. My clothes fit way differently, and I have to get new pants. I feel more confident.
In one of Adam’s newsletters, he wrote that when you lose weight in a way that you enjoy, it’ll be easier to maintain the weight loss. I certainly enjoyed life as I was losing the weight, which was a pleasant surprise.
I learned a lot about my mindsets and psychology and what was holding me back, which I’ll be able to apply to other areas of my life as well. I developed a lot of healthy habits and behaviors that feel automatic, so I feel like I’ll easily be able to sustain this.
Anything else that you think is worth sharing?
The stories about people not having their health anymore and being willing to pay anything to get it back were really eye-opening for me. Your health is invaluable. And it affects EVERY single other part of your life. When you see it that way, it makes zero sense why getting back in control of your health wouldn’t be a top priority.
If you’ve tried other things or tried doing it on your own, just go for it. It’s worth making a priority in your life. I’m so happy that I did and very grateful for MyBodyTutor and my coach being there for me every step of the way.
What did you say to yourself as you were reading Jonah's story?
It’s fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don’t. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can’t achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
Here’s the best part: I guarantee it or your money back. I sincerely believe in what we offer that much. I know MBT will be the last program you ever do or need.
