In my late 20s I had a year of back to back to back trauma. I eventually found a great therapist to start working through it all, but I had slowly gained 90 pounds over 15 years. That’s about 6 pounds a year that just crept up on me.

Last year when I had my daughter, I knew I needed to take back control. I needed to be able to show her how a woman is supposed to take care of her body. So I started doing some research. I was reading books and trying to get my mindset right. The problem was that my mindset was where it needed to be, I was just having a hard time breaking the bad habits.

I heard Adam talking to @beardybrandon on the Better Life podcast in February of this year and it finally clicked. I needed accountability to break the old habits and re-learn the good habits. I didn’t want to diet. I wanted to naturally make better choices and having someone looking over my choices on a daily basis sounded scary, but I wanted to change more than anything.

I’m in my mid forties now and knew this would not be an easy task. We started out making very small changes with eating and exercise until I was able to start making bigger moves with resisting cravings and walking more. Jess was so good at giving me gentle nudges and not making indulgent choices a big deal.

In February, I was averaging 3,900 steps a day and at least one stop at a fast food place a day, some days it was for food and some it was for a Coke. In October, I averaged 9,500 steps a day and only ate fast food 3 times the whole month, with zero cokes!

I cannot believe I lost 25 pounds. I have so much more energy and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me in the next few years.
